What is the difference between LVT flooring and SPC flooring?

LVT flooring (Luxury Vinyl Tile) and SPC flooring (Stone Plastic Composite) are both types of plastic flooring, but they have some differences in structure, composition, and performance.

  1. Structure and composition:

-LVT flooring: LVT flooring is typically composed of multiple layers of structure. The top is the protective layer, the bottom is the pattern layer and PVC layer, and the bottom is the base layer. The pattern layer of LVT flooring imitates natural materials such as wood grain and stone grain through printing technology.

-SPC flooring: SPC flooring is composed of stone plastic composite materials. Its structure mainly includes a layer of stone plastic composite material, a texture layer, a UV coating, and a base layer.

  1. Material composition:

-LVT flooring: The PVC layer of LVT flooring is mainly made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Pattern layers can use different types of printing techniques and texture designs to mimic natural materials such as wood and stone.

-SPC flooring: The main component of SPC flooring is stone plastic composite material, which is a mixture of stone powder, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and other additives. This makes SPC flooring more sturdy, stable, and has higher compressive performance.

  1. Stability and durability:

-LVT flooring: Due to its structure and materials, LVT flooring is relatively soft and sensitive to uneven ground. It is suitable for low to medium traffic areas, suitable for residential, commercial spaces, and mild commercial use.

-SPC flooring: SPC flooring is composed of stone plastic composite materials, which have excellent stability and durability. It has good uneven performance on the ground and is suitable for high traffic areas, such as commercial offices, shopping malls, and public places.

  1. Comfort and sound absorption:

-LVT flooring: Due to its softer material, LVT flooring is softer when stepped on, providing a certain level of foot comfort. But it is relatively thin and has poor sound absorption performance.

-SPC flooring: Due to its harder stone plastic composite material, SPC flooring is more solid and gives a harder feeling when stepped on. However, due to its dense structure, SPC flooring has good sound absorption performance, which helps to reduce noise propagation.

  1. Waterproofness:

-Both LVT flooring and SPC flooring have excellent waterproof performance. Their materials and structure enable them to resist moisture infiltration and humid environments, making them very suitable for use in damp areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms.

Summary: LVT flooring and SPC flooring are both excellent choices for plastic flooring, with some differences in structure, composition, and performance. LVT flooring is more suitable for residential and light commercial use, while SPC flooring is more suitable for high traffic commercial and public places. The choice of flooring depends on your needs, budget, and space requirements. Regardless of which flooring you choose, it provides durability, comfort, and aesthetics, adding comfort and style to your living space.
